Thomas “Tom” Williams is currently the Director of Leadership Development Outreach for East Carolina University’s Department of Educational Leadership (LEED). Tom served as the superintendent of the Granville County (NC) Schools from 2000 until 2007 and from 1994-2000 he served in the Office of Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. as the Executive Director to the North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE) .Beginning as an elementary teacher and high school coach, Tom also served as an elementary (K-8), middle (6-8), and high school (9-12) principal and assistant superintendent.Since 2010, he has served the NC Principals/Assistant Principals Association (NCPAPA) as a lead developer and facilitator of its yearlong, blended learning professional development series,”Distinguished Leadership in Practice (DLP)” and for the past three years, he has served NCPAPA and the Friday Institute of North Carolina State University in the development and facilitation of its new series “DLP for Digital Learning.”His educational preparation began at Boston College and after moving to North Carolina, he received his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Pembroke State University.He earned his MAEd, EdS, and EdD in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University.
