Biography

Mr. Alan Bailey is an Associate Professor and Head of the Teaching Resources Center at ECU’s Joyner Library. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University in 1984. In 1993, he received his Master of Library Science degree from East Carolina University and in 2003 he received a second Master of Library Science from North Carolina Central University. He began his career as a school media coordinator at Sandhills Elementary School in Carthage, North Carolina and later at Micro Elementary School in Micro, North Carolina. Mr. Bailey went on to serve as branch manager of Greenville’s George Washington Carver Library and Coordinator of Evening Services for the Pitt Community College Learning Resources Center. Prior to his current position, Mr. Bailey served in several roles with Joyner Library, including Personnel and Staff Librarian. Mr. Bailey has received numerous awards including the 2013 Roadbuilder’s Award for Academic Librarianship presented by the North Carolina Association’s Round Table for Ethnic Minority Concerns.
