Biography

Mrs. Atwater received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Greensboro College in 1969 and her Master’s in Education from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1971. She is also passionate about community service. Mrs. Atwater is a Surrogate Parent in the Exceptional Children’s Program in the Durham Public Schools and a member of the Junior Leagues of Durham and Orange County. In 1995, she was recognized by the Learning Disabilities Association of Durham for her distinguished, devoted service and outstanding leadership. Mrs. Atwater’s son, Charlie Atwater is accepting the award on her behalf.
