Ms. Gabriella Figueiredo is accepting this award on her mother’s behalf.
Regina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and her Master’s in Education from the Ohio State University. She earned both a Master’s and a Doctorate in Education Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Her career in education began at Treca Digital Academy, where Regina was a curriculum coordinator. She later served as Principal for the Virtual Community School of Ohio and as a Project Assistant for the US Department of Education before coming to ECU in 2013 as an Assistant Professor in the College of Education. Regina was highly respected and loved by the faculty and students in the Department of Educational Leadership. She had a way of making people smile and those around her better. Regina educated her students in practical applications of social justice and worked to develop leaders that would serve all students equitably. Her career ended far too soon after a valiant battle with cancer.
Regina Figueiredo-Brown is being sponsored posthumously by her friends and family, the faculty and staff of the College of Education and her colleagues from the Educational Leadership Department.
HER plaque reads:
Her intelligence, ethics, graciousness, and courage continue to inspire.
We are better for having had the opportunity to call her friend.
